Facade and Shopfront Grants

Dundee's award winning Facade Enhancement Grant Scheme was previously managed by Dundee City Council, with nearly £1.2 million of grants provided by DCC and Scottish Enterprise Tayside generating an additional private sector spend of £7.3 million between 1994 and 2004. The Trust is now administering the scheme and is seeking applications for assistance in the city centre and Albert Street areas (for eligibility criteria contact the Trust directly).

The gate to Gray's Close (above far left) is one of the award winning series of public art gates (designed by the Ratho Byres Forge), funded by the scheme.

It also marks the entrance to Gardyne's Land, a £3 million restoration project set up by Tayside Building Preservation Trust, and now managed by Dundee City Council, to which the Trust contributed significantly.

Other grants awarded by the Trust include (2004-05): Papa Joe's Whitehall Street; Zenova Fabrics, Seagate; Modista, Commercial Street; 23-31 Albert Street; 71-75 Hilltown; Watson's Bond gate, Seagate; (2005-06): E Scalon, electricians, Princes Street; Barnardo's, Reform Street; and Commercial Court gate, Commercial Street.

Awards pending for 2006-07 include the Albertay Launderette, Albert Street, the Nethergate Post Office, and a third phased grant to Gardyne's Land.
